The construction of the Lamu Port oil pipeline linking South Sudan to Kenya and Ethiopia is ready to begin, according the Japanese-owned company in charge of construction.
Officials of the Toyota Tsusho Company told President Salva Kiir in Yokohama, Japan this week that they have completed the feasibility study for the 5-billion-dollar pipeline.
The project consists of an 800 kilometer road system, a standard gauge railway, an oil refinery and airport.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Garang Diing said that now that the feasibility study has been done, building will begin.
The pipeline is predicted to be the largest development of its kind in the East Africa region.
