Vice President Taban Deng Gai has announced that a technical team of Air Traffic Control Service is undergoing training ahead of the transition of control of the South Sudan Upper Airspace from Sudan.

Gai, the chair of the Infrastructure Cluster in the national cabinet, said there has been significant progress, and the country will now manage its upper airspace.

He further stated that the government is working on a master plan to upgrade Juba Airport to international standards, which has started with fencing the airport.

Gai spoke last evening at the closing of the three-day Juba Economic Forum.

“There is a lot of progress at the Juba International Airport. very soon, we are going to own our airspace control which was not under our management but is coming to us,” Vice President Taban said.

“Technical people have started the process of handing over; they have been undergoing training all these months to take on how to take over from Sudan,” he said.
