Kator FC strengthened its lead in the South Sudan Premier League after a goalless draw with Al-Merrikh Bentiu in the ninth week of the competition.
Kator entered the match at the top of the table with 20 points, while Al-Merrikh Bentiu was in fourth place with 18 points. From the first whistle, Kator pressed forward, using the speed of its players to try and secure an early goal that could unsettle their opponents.
Despite the early pressure, Al-Merrikh Bentiu’s defense held strong. However, under sustained attacks, Al-Merrikh ’s defenders committed a foul inside the box, leading to a penalty for Kator in the 44th minute. Unfortunately for Kator, the penalty was missed, and the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, both teams returned with hopes of breaking the deadlock. Al-Merrikh Bentiu started stronger, forcing Kator to rely on counterattacks. Kator played with an advanced defensive system, attempting to control the midfield to disrupt Al-Merrikh ’s offensive plays.
Kator’s midfield worked hard to transition the ball from defense to attack, searching for gaps in Al-Merrikh ’s solid defense. However, Marrickh remained disciplined, limiting Kator’s movement and preventing them from finding space.
In the final minutes, Al-Merrikh had a golden opportunity to score but failed to capitalize. Similarly, Kator had a late chance from a corner kick, but Al-Merrikh ’s goalkeeper made a crucial save.
With the final whistle, the match ended in a 0-0 draw. The result keeps Kator at the top of the league, while Al-Merrikh Bentiu moved up to third place, with Koryom with 19 point .
