Muslims in South Sudan have joined the rest of the world to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan.

On the occasion, they are urging their fellow South Sudanese to use the holiday to symbolize peace and forgiveness among the people.

Some of them spoke to Eye Radio.

“I also ask God to strengthen our government so that we can have one message of peace,” said Samira  Suleiman.

For her part, a Sheikh Abdun said the economic crisis is a test that requires all to contribute to its containment.

“Even though the country is undergoing severe economic crisis, this is the plan of our almighty God to test our faith to know whether we are loyal to him, to his laws or not,” the unnamed faithful said.

“This time is the time for readjustment of all the boundaries of lives in South Sudan.”

This year, Ramadan ended on Tuesday for the Muslims, marking the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.

In South Sudan, Muslims will rest until Friday and return to work on Monday.
