President Salva Kiir has dissolved the Board of Directors of the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, SSBC, and appointed a new board through a presidential order.

The dissolved board was appointed in June 2021, when President Kiir reconstituted public media institutions and named Mary Ajith Goch as Chairperson of the SSBC Board.

Other members at the time included Dr. Chaplain Kara as Deputy Chairperson, James Magok Chilim as Secretary and Executive Officer, Dr. Victoria Anib, Ario Loro Lotong, Michael Tong Magok, Tereza Cirisio, Andrea Mach Mabior and Johnson Lotubi Lom.

Under the new appointments, General Peter Wol has been named Chairperson of the Board, while Agnes Wasuk becomes Deputy Chairperson. SSBC Managing Director John Madol will serve as the board’s Secretary.

Other members of the new board include Mathiang Cirilo, Editor-in-Chief of Almaugif Arabic newspaper; former Juba City Council Deputy Mayor Tiik Tiik Mayardit; Akuot Sarah Dut; Kuol Mor Mor; Jacqueline Birnyo Ephraim; and Garang Duot Ayok.

The presidential order annulled the previous board and relieved its members of their duties.
