More police officers have been deployed in Northern Bari Payam to restore peace in the area.

On Sunday, three people were killed and four others wounded in fighting between cattle keepers and farmers in the area.

According to the government of Central Equatoria state, the police will ensure no more clashes take place between cattle keepers and farmers in Luri area.

“The government in the first place has sent in the police force in order to make sure that there is peace and normality in that particular situation,” said  Suba Samuel Manase, state Minister of Information.

He said the police are carrying out investigation to determine the cause of the fighting.

“The office of the Commissioner of Juba County yesterday was assessing the situation and they have started helping the people.  But the first priority is actually to restore law and order in that area.”

Mr. Suba said the state government is holding discussions on possible long term solutions to recurrent conflicts between cattle keepers and farmers.
