Central Equatoria State revenue authority is to start charging five percent on every ticket paid for travels within and outside the State. The charges will be paid by the public service vehicle companies such as those with Buses to Kampala, Nairobi and those that travel interstates. The move came as part of the State government’s policy of collecting local taxes to fund its programs. However, the chairman of Long Distant Transporters Operators, Jacob Lueth told Eye Radio that the charges will affect negatively on the passengers travel. Mister Lueth added that the Central Equatoria State revenue collection authority has not clarified to the traders why they increase.
Attempts by Eye Radio to speak to officials from the revenue collection office were not successful.
