Residents of Kondokoro Payam in Juba County are appealing for urgent government intervention over what they describe as a severe lack of basic services in the area.

Community members say the payam continues to face major challenges, including inadequate health facilities, poor school infrastructure, insecurity, and lack of clean water.

One resident said the absence of proper schools has forced many children to cross the River Nile daily to attend classes in Juba.

“We have a lot challenges, we do not have hospitals, children cross the river Nile every day to attend schools in Juba because there are no good schools here in Juba,” he stated.

Residents also expressed fears over insecurity and difficulties faced during medical emergencies, especially at night.

“The other issue is security we need proper security such that when a person falls sick here in the village they can be taken to Juba at night, now if a woman wants to give birth at night it becomes a serious problem.”

Another community member said the few available facilities in the area are poorly equipped and unable to meet the needs of residents.

“We do not have proper schools, the school we have are not well constructed and equipped all children go to Juba for schools. We do not have a hospital here, the facility that is here does not have medical supplies.”

The residents also complained about lack of pesticides and access to clean drinking water, saying the challenges continue to affect farming and public health.

“We need pesticides because our farms are destroyed by insects and pests, the water we have here is not clean we need clean water such that our children will not fall sick.”
