Official urges public to take polio campaigns seriously

A senior official is urging the public to take seriously health campaigns conducted by the government and other health agencies about the dangers of polio.

The director general in the Ministry of Veteran Affairs, Alesio Emor Ojetuk says health precautions, such as getting your children vaccinated, drinking boiled water and washing your hands before eating.

He said some children missed out vaccination due to lack of awareness within communities.

He said, “This will reduce or prevent disabilities as a result of polio because polio is a virus that is causing disabilities, we also need to educate ourselves on drinking clean water even if it means boiling by this we shall reduce disabilities cause by Guinean worm, the third advice is to stop war because the consequences of war is disabilities. In some of our communities there are also cattle rustling and tribal clashes, we need to learn to leave in harmony with our neighbors”.

Mister Ojetuk called on youth to avoid fighting because that has a negative impact on the health of the young generation.
