MP shot in the leg by armed men in Mundri

A Member of the national Parliament Joseph Ngere has survived an attack by an unknown gunmen in Mundri West County in Western Equatoria State.

The acting commissioner of the county, John Cleopas, says the MP was shot last evening while returning home from a funeral.

“Gunmen stopped and asked him: who are you?” Mr Cleopas explained.

“Then he said he is Honorable Joseph Ngere. Then they fired three bullets, shooting him in the leg.

“We took him to the Lui Hospital. We managed to get the first aid.”

Mr Cleopas says the MP will be taken to Juba today for treatment. The motive of the attack is unclear.
