Malakia Juba beat El Merriekh Bentiu 2-0 in South Sudan Premier League opener

Malakia FC Juba beat El Merriekh FC Bentiu 2-0 on Monday securing three points in the inaugural match of the South Sudan Premier League at Juba National Stadium.

This set the stage for an exiting six-month season where 14 of South Sudan’s best football clubs will compete for the league title expected to be awarded by May 2025.

Emmanuel Joang scored the historic opener, delivering a stunning goal to put Malakia FC ahead early in the match. It took only a few minutes before Mabior Herejok netted a brilliant second goal and secured a decisive win for the Juba-based side.

Fans packed the stands to witness this landmark event, celebrating not only Malakia FC’s victory but also the start of a new era for South Sudanese football.

The tournament action continues on Tuesday afternoon with Kator FC set to face their first challenge against Wajoma FC of Aweil.
