A County Commissioner in Central Equatoria state has expressed concerns over the presence of armed cattle keepers in the county.

Hundreds of pastoralists from Jonglei have fled to Lainya County following an attack in December.

Lainya County Commissioner Huda Mika told the Dawn show that residents of Lainya are living in fear due to presence of guns in the hands of cattle keepers.

“As a government and as a people, we will accommodate ourselves because we know the situations,” said Madam Huda.

“The only problem we are experiencing now as people of Lainya the cattle keepers who are moving with their guns.”

She appealed to the national ministry of agriculture and animal resources to contain the situation.
