President Salva Kiir has ordered security forces to ensure that Nuer youth and a spiritual leader named Gai Machiek leave Warrap State with immediate effect as part of several other directives to resolve the Warrap-Abyei inter-communal conflict.

The order read on the state-owned television, SSBC on Tuesday followed President Kiir’s meeting with authorities in Warrap and Abyei Administrative area on January 10, 2024.

According to the directive aimed at mitigating the Warrap-Abyei conflict, the Nuer youth should either return to Unity State or relocated to areas in the Bahr el Ghazal region, other than Warrap State and Abyei Administrative Area.

Mr. Kiir also authorized the deployment of a neutral force to conflict-affected areas between Twic and Ngok Dinka communities to restore law and order.

He further ordered the arrest of politicians from both communities who were involved in inciting violence to be arraigned in the court of law to face justice.

He instructed the conflicting communities to put on hold the land dispute and devise peaceful means to resolve the issue, citing similar order applies to other communities in parts of South Sudan.
