President Kiir receives JEDCO audit report to support energy reforms

President Salva Kiir has received the 2025 statutory annual audit report on the Juba Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO), as the government seeks to advance reforms in South Sudan’s energy sector.

The report was presented on Friday by Auditor General Steven Wondu at the State House in Juba.

According to the Office of the President, the audit is expected to support ongoing efforts to improve the performance and management of the country’s electricity distribution system.

Speaking after the meeting, Wondu said President Kiir has consistently expressed concern about the state of electricity supply across South Sudan.

According to him, the President has always been concerned about the state of electricity in the country.

The findings of this audit, he said will assist the Head of State in making informed and concrete decisions regarding the performance and future of JEDCO

The Auditor General did not disclose the findings or recommendations contained in the report.

The presentation comes as the government continues to pursue reforms aimed at improving electricity supply and strengthening the management of the country’s energy sector.
