Road transport between the county and Juba has been suspended indefinitely, the Commissioner of Kajo-Keji in Central Equatoria State has said.

This follows the killing of five people along the road over the weekend.

Unknown gunmen ambushed and shot at a passenger car on Saturday, killing two women and two men.  Seven others were wounded in the incident.

Henry Sabuni told Eye Radio that the road will remain closed until security is guaranteed.

However, the police commissioner in Central Equatoria State, Major General Saed Shawul, says the situation is now calm along the road.

He told Eye Radio that the attackers were criminals.
