Juba County authorities have announced plans to digitalize land registration as part of efforts to improve land administration and reduce ownership disputes.

The initiative was unveiled during a consultative meeting chaired by Juba County Commissioner Samuel Emiliano Wani Pitia with the County Engineering Department.

The Commissioner said the county plans to modernize land management by introducing a digital registration system and a unified format for land applications, registration, and transfer procedures.

He said the reforms are intended to enhance transparency, improve service delivery, and address challenges such as multiple ownership claims and irregular land transfers.

Samuel Emiliano also revealed plans to establish a centralized database for the Engineering Department and harmonize the county’s master plan to strengthen urban planning and record management.

Engineers who attended the meeting raised concerns over challenges facing the sector, including the lack of unified fees across payams, inadequate regulation of GPS and land data systems, and the need for stronger policy frameworks.

They also proposed the establishment of town planning structures and stronger protection for engineers carrying out their duties.
