More than 70 South Sudanese students under a scholarship by former Central Equatoria say they face dismissal over a delay to pay their school fees.

They have been given up to the end of the month to clear their tuition fees or else they would be evicted.

In 2013, the 73 students were sent to Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, India, to study Information Communication Technology.

The sponsorship was on condition that they would come back to work in the state government to improve information systems.

“So everyone is worried; everyone is completely uncertain,” said a Mr Simon, representative of the scholars at the Institute.

“We find it completely different here; no charitable people one can go to.”

Efforts to reach the state governments created out of the former Central Equatoria State for a comment were not immediately successful.
