The Greater Pibor Administrative Area has opened a new health facility and two primary schools in Vertet County, in a move aimed at improving access to basic healthcare and education services.
According to a statement, Chief Administrator Gola Boyoi Gola inaugurated the facilities on Monday during a ceremony attended by local officials, community elders and residents.
The projects include an expanded Primary Health Care Unit and two new classrooms at Kengen Primary School in Hai Mothong, Vertet Payam.
The health facility has been equipped with solar power, a 50-by-50-metre chain-link perimeter fence and a new incinerator for the safe disposal of medical waste.
The statement says the additional classrooms will provide more learning space for pupils and improve the learning environment in the community.
The projects were implemented by the national government through the Enhancing Community Resilience and Local Governance Project Phase II, ECRP II, a programme that supports community infrastructure and local service delivery.
The Greater Pibor Administrative Area says the new facilities are part of efforts to improve access to essential services and strengthen community resilience in Vertet County.
Residents and community leaders welcomed the projects during the inauguration, which was also attended by local government officials.
The facilities are expected to improve basic healthcare and education services and support development in the area.
