Gov’t to devise ways to handle fall in oil prices

The government has asked its economic institutions to discuss ways to manage the fall in oil prices in the world market.

Oil experts say the prices have fallen by at least 40 percent since last month.

The Minister of Telecommunication and Postal Services, Joshua Okwaci, says the fall in oil prices has reduced government revenues.

“If there is any challenge in the oil prices globally, that also affects the oil situation in our country and also affects the prices in the market.” She said.

The Council listened to that and the resolution was that the economic sector or institutions within the economic sector will sit together continue to discuss, continue to think of new ideas, so they can together help our country to improve its financial situation.” Okwaci added.

The government earns much of its revenue from oil.
