Egypt cancels accrued resident permit fees for S. Sudanese

The Egyptian government has waived resident permit fees accrued by South Sudanese for the years they have lived in the country.

It is reported that many South Sudanese have been living in Egypt without renewing their immigration papers.

According to the Egyptian Consulate in Juba, this requirement will now change.

Ahmed Albakry revealed to Eye Radio that South Sudanese who previously failed to renew their resident permits will not be penalized.

He says they will, however, be required to renew their permits within the next six months.

Consular Albakry advised South Sudanese to go to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to renew their resident permits.

“President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President has exempted the South Sudan citizens in Egypt from the fines for renewing residency permit,” Albakry told Eye Radio in an exclusive interview.

“South Sudanese who have been living in Egypt for a long time without issuing or renewing residency permits regardless of the accumulative residency renewing Started from 3\4\ 2022 they can go to the Ministry of Foreign affairs to renew their residence permit.

“Passport offices are obliged to cancel all fines and renew residency for them. During these six months, you are obligated to adjust your situation and renew your residence.

According to Egyptian laws, if a person fails to renew the resident permit, he or she will be required to pay a three months fine of 66 U.S dollars.

You will also be compelled to pay 40 U.S dollars for every subsequent three months.
