Cueibet County is at risk of hunger due to shortage of food in the market caused by poor roads linking the state with other areas, according to authorities.

The County commissioner, Isaac Mayom Malek, says floods have worsened the situation.

He told Eye Radio that the state capital Rumbek depends on goods coming from Western Bahr el Ghazal.

“Situation is bad the hunger is threatening people especially those who are living in the town,” said Mr Malek.

“If you go to Rumbek market you don’t get anything to buy, if you go to Cueibet market, there is nothing and if you want to go to Wau it is difficult.”

The floods has also made impassable Cueibet-Tonj road
