The South Sudan Bar Association has directed more than 100 advocates to submit and authenticate their academic qualifications within one month or face disciplinary action.

According to a circular issued by the Association, the decision follows recommendations from the Vetting and Verification Committee.

The lawyers are divided into two categories. Seventeen advocates have not yet submitted their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees, while 87 others have submitted certificates that have not been authenticated.

The Association warned that failure to comply within the deadline will trigger disciplinary measures.

In March 2025, the Bar Association revoked the licenses of 83 advocates for failing to meet professional requirements, including submitting degrees from unrecognized universities.

The latest directive comes as part of ongoing efforts to regulate legal practice and enforce professional standards within the legal profession in South Sudan.
