The Governor of Central Equatoria State has dismissed rumors of assassination attempt to his life.

On Tuesday, the Office of the President said stories about a plot to kill the Governors of the Equatoria States were just rumors.

The Presidential Press Secretary said there was no truth in stories that President Salva Kiir had authorized assassination of the three governors for supporting call for federalism in the country.

Rumors also circulated in Juba that the presidential guards clashed with the guards of the governor.

However, Governor Clement Wani Kong’a said in a press conference this morning that the rumors were meant to create disunity amongst the people of South Sudan.

“My guards have never had a clash with the presidential guards, and it had never happened. If there was a plan for that, it is not going to be the presidential guards who would kill me,” said Mr Konga

“And I am not going to die in Juba, I may die somewhere, be it weather going home or cultivating or a pig will be the one to bite me. But there is nothing of that kind.”

The Governor also said he will continue to campaign for federal system of government to be included in the permanent constitution of the Republic of South Sudan that will be drafted.

“Federalism has to be discussed so that it can be entered into the permanent constitution,” he added.
