The Government of Central Equatoria State has signed agreements with China Communications and Construction Company Limited on three major projects.

The agreements were signed on the occasion of State Governor Clement Wani Konga’s visit to China with a high-level delegation earlier this month.

The Minister of Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs, Professor Scopas Dima, said these projects will be implemented by China First Highway Engineering Company.

“Three major projects were discussed and tentatively agreed upon and these are: one, the Juba Cargo and Logistic Airport; two, the development, construction and building of infrastructure in Juba Special Economic Zone; three, the bulk grain silos and food warehouses,” told reporters.

“Three memoranda of understanding were signed by the Government of Central Equatoria State and the China Communications and Construction Company Limited for the implementation of the three projects mentioned above.”

Professor Dima said the Government also has signed an agreement with Aviation Corporation of China to provide CES with mobile hospital compartment units because some parts of the state lacks medical facilities.

“The Government of Central Equatoria, having interacted with Aviation Corporation of China [AVIC] on mobile clinics, decided that we should introduce mobile hospitals in Central Equatoria, particularly to provide services in the areas where there are no health facilities.”

Professor Dima added that they also signed an agreement on a milk and yogurt processing factory, a fruit juice processing plant and development of the agriculture sector in Central Equatoria State.
