The South Sudan cabinet on Friday passed the 2012 Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing Act 2012 amendment bill 2024.

The bill was passed in 2012 and it is currently being amended to reflex new developments around the world in areas of Money Laundering and Terrorism.

Information Minister Micheal Makuei Lueth said the bill which seeks to combat terrorism, was presented to the cabinet by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Justice Ruben Madol.

“The cabinet listened to a presentation from the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Justice Ruben Madol and it was on anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing act 2012 amendment bill 2024,” Makuei told reporters on Friday.

He said: “This bill off course is built for fighting terrorism and fighting those who finance terrorism.”

Makuei said the bill will further be presented at the national parliament for deliberation, after which it will be approved and ratified into law by the president.
