The national cabinet on Friday approved over 5 million US dollars for the completion and furnishing of the Ministry of Wildlife headquarters.

The Ministry of Wildlife headquarters is almost complete but has run out of funds, says information Minister Michael Makuei.

Makuei told the media that a budget of 5,450,460 US dollars was presented by the Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism during the regular Council of Ministers meeting on June 9.

“They run short of funds and as such they requested funds for the completion of the building so that the building can be used, and the amount needed was to the value of 5,450,460 US dollars,” Makuei said.

He said the cabinet then directed Minister Rezik Zechariah to coordinate the fund’s release with the Minister of Finance and Planning.

“This was the amount that he [Rezik] requested to be paid and the Cabinet approved the payment of the amount and directed him to coordinate with the Minister of Finance and Planning for the necessary payment so that the building is completed.”
