Two Australian-based South Sudanese football players are confirmed to be joining the national team squad for Wednesday’s World Cup Qualifier against Mauritania.

Apai Ukuno from the Brisbane Strikers in NPL Queensland and Ajak Panek from Western Suburbs in NPL Victoria are set to arrive in Juba tomorrow.

The players are expected to add a key edge to the South Sudan squad.

Apai Akuno

A mid-season signing for Brisbane Strikers after returning to Australia from Welsh club Gap Connah’s Quay Nomads, Apai Akuno is a rangy and fleet-footed attacker who can produce a composed finish.

He also has a work rate that makes him a constant menace to opposition defenders looking to play out from the back, according to Brisbane Strikers website.
