The UN Emergency Relief Coordinator has approved 4.6 million dollars for South Sudanese refugees at Kakuma Camp in Kenya.

The UN public information for humanitarian affairs Mathew Conley told Eye Radio that the money will be used to provide child protection services, clean water, food, sanitation, shelter and vaccination campaigned at the camp.

“This money is for emergency funding. It should be coming out next week for the region. This money is specifically targeted in the domains of child protection. You know we are receiving a lot of unaccompanied minors who are arriving in Kakuma – transport from the border to Kakuma”, he said.

He said about two hundred to three hundred people are arriving from South Sudan daily to the camp.

Over one hundred and fifty thousand south Sudanese refugees have been registered at Kakuma Refugee Camp, according to the UN.
