How ‘Al Watani’ newspaper Chief Editor escaped attack

The Chief Editor of the Arabic daily newspaper ‘Al Watani’, Michael Christopher, says he escaped being attacked by a group of unknown armed men who broke into his house over the weekend.

Mr. Christopher said the group of 8 armed men broke open his gate and entered his compound, but he managed to flee into his neighbor’s house.
He told Eye Radio that he suspects some people had been looking for him the whole day.
“Yesterday at 9:00 am I went to the office as a normal routine activity as a chief Editor for the newspaper in order to follow what was happening; I suddenly learnt that there were four people who came to the office, looking for me,” said Christopher, saying the guards talked the suspected pursuers off, by telling them that the whole staff had not yet reported to work.
“So the day went normally, but at around 9:30 pm, while I was at home, I saw 8 people at the gate. So I went and closed the gate. They broke the door so I ran to the neighbor’s house. Some of them were armed,”
Security authorities have not commented on the matter.
