Central Equatoria State governor has commended thousands of civilians who have returned to Morobo County from the refugee camps in Uganda.

Nearly 50,000 civilians, mainly women, and children have returned home from the refugee camps after relative peace in the area.

Yesterday, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony visited the area and met the returnees.

Speaking in Morobo, he encouraged the civilians to rebuild their lives.

“Being at your home is more important than in camps where you suffer. But now I’m glad you came from the camps in DR. Congo, and Uganda with peace,” said the governor.

“I thank you for the love you have for your area. Since you have come, you rebuild the schools and the hospital. With your cooperation to us, all these things will be built.”

The returnees in Morobo County have complained of harassment and looting of their property by armed forces in the area, in recent days.

They have also called for the evacuation of soldiers from the area.

In response, Governor Adil urged them to be patient saying, the government will soon deploy the unified forces.

“It’s remaining a few things, and the unified forces are going to deploy. The President and the five Vice presidents have agreed that the forces be transported and given work.”

“Earlier, some civilians asked why the forces are there. Let me tell you the forces will leave whether SSPDF or SPLA-IO. I urge you to be patient.”

Adil was referring to the Presidency meeting on Friday, which resolved to expedite the deployment of the unified forces.
