The 2014-2015 Budget will focus on reconstruction of the three states that have been affected by the conflict, the Economics Committee in the National Assembly has said.

Last week, the Minister of Finance presented the 11.56 billion Pound Budget to the National Legislative Assembly for deliberations.

The chairperson of the Economics Committee, Goc Makuac, told Eye Radio that the budget will also focus on peace building in the affected states.

Infrastructure was destroyed during confrontations between the SPLA and the rebels in many towns in Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei states.

“There will be constructions in the towns of Malakal, Jonglei and Bentiu including the building of roads across the country,” said Mr Makuac.

98% of the budget comes from oil proceeds and 2% from non-oil revenue.

Currently, the economics committee is analyzing the budget and it will present a report to the Assembly next week.
