Crops in Terkaka County of Central Equatoria State have been destroyed by floods.

Authorities say food productions this year will be reduced by the recent rains. The area is well-known for groundnuts production. Most of this produce is transported to Juba markets.

Commissioner Jacob Gore told Eye Radio down Show this morning that the heavy downpour has destroyed the farmers’ crops this year.

“If you find the groundnuts is in the water for more than seven days at then the result will not be good,” said Mr Gore.

The local population also depend on groundnuts for food.

“The groundnuts are in water and this will affect our people,” he added.

Mr. Gore appealed to the government and organizations working in agriculture field to help the people of the area.
