The Information Minister of Gbudwe state says the situation in Yambio town is now calm after clashes between gunmen and government security forces.

Joseph Sabuni says there was no sound of gunshots last night and this morning.

The fighting first took place in town on Thursday night, before the army pushed the attackers to the outskirt of the town, where shootings continued until the afternoon hours.

“As we speak this morning, everything is OK except that I need to hear from the security guys what exactly happened,” Mr Sabuni told Eye Radio.

He added that at least two people were killed in the latest clashes.
