Wau security given shoot-to-kill policy

The Governor of Western Bahr Al Ghazal State has ordered forces on night patrols to shoot-to-kill anyone found breaking into shops and attacking residents at night in Wau town.

There have been increased cases of robberies and burglaries in the town. Rizik Zakaria said this would reduce the crime rate.

“We don’t want to hear that there are thieves robbing and running away; shoot that person dead so that we know there is a thief,” said Governor Zakaria.

“Comrade, if we don’t find someone on the ground, it means that you yourself are the thief.”

He also warned the police against getting involved in criminal activities. Mr Rizik was addressing the special police forces in Wau yesterday.

He said the state has about 3000 police personnel, but most of them are not active on the ground to perform their duties.
