Authorities in Warrap State have banned soldiers from carrying guns during the celebrations to mark the independence anniversary today.

Soldiers have been ordered not to carry guns in the public.

Achuil Tito Madut, chairperson for the organizing committee of the celebrations in Warrap State, said the move is aimed at avoiding causing panic amongst the civil populations.

Mr. Madut spoke at Kuajok Freedom Square during a rehearsal for the parade yesterday.

He said only the soldiers who are on duty are allowed to carry guns during the celebrations.
