The Commissioner of Tonj-East says at least nine people have been killed and seven others wounded in an attack in Warrap State by forces loyal to Dr. Riek Machar.

Madhol Chol says on Monday, forces from the SPLA –in Opposition attacked Tonj-North and Tonj-East Counties and killed a number of civilians.

He says Dr. Riek Machar’s forces carried out the attacks on the two counties and raided cattle from various camps.

Mr. Madhol said the organized forces have recovered over one thousand heads of cattle which had been stolen.

They also captured at least 14 weapons from the attackers:

“From our side, one person was injured and two killed and our youth managed to get 14 A-K-M rifles,” he told Eye Radio.

“Another attack happened in Tonj-North in a place called Malual in Apuipadot.

“The attack happened at 7pm when the cattle were coming back from grazing. But our people managed to rescue all the cattle back yesterday.

“About seven people were shot dead and six others were injured in Tonj North County.”

Mr. Madhol said the security forces have repulsed the attackers.

He added that the government forces are on high alert in order, he said, to secure the state territory.
