Veteran journalist Hamzah Deng Nuany passes on

Veteran journalist and police officer Hamzah Deng Nuany passed away on Monday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, his family has confirmed.

Deng, a former presenter of programs on the national television SSBC, died in his late 50s, after a long illness.

He was a broadcaster of a weekly program segment “The Police Protects the People” on national television.

His cousin brother James Peter says the family is shocked by the news of his demise.

According to his colleagues in the media and the law enforcement agency, Deng is known as a passionate journalist and officer who served his country through the National Police Service and the SSBC.

He wrote several articles in Arabic newspapers and presented numerous episodes on national TV; shedding light on the activities of the National Police Service.

He earned the rank of major in the police force.
