UN’s Pillay calls for int’l pressure on RSS leaders to stop revenge attacks

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights is calling on the international community to put more pressure on both the government and the SPLM in Opposition to prevent further revenge attacks.

Navi Pillay says atrocities have been committed in the recent clashes in Bentiu and other parts of the Country.

Speaking at a news conference today, Ms. Pillay said South Sudanese leaders should take action to prevent further Human Rights abuses.

“It is essential that the South Sudanese people and the international community press on the country political leaders that they must stop blindly dragging their people down the path of self-destructions,” said Ms Pillay.

Ms. Pillay and the United Nations Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide have been on mission to South to assess Human Rights Situation.

  1. am sorry what is going on in this situation as the rebels of recent attack in bentiu has shoot my father (major wani emmanuel)got the report yesterday.am sorry that i will even not see that body of my father,am in school in uganda.kiiri should leave and stop the meaningless killing riak should know no one live for ever time always vary, kiri and riak will have their time of dead,the alarm made by riak and kiiri will not end the children of children will still remember who kill their people,no peace will be in south sudan if kiri is not living.what is the meaning of the ceases fire.
