Sudanese Army General Shams El Din Kabbashi told Al-Arabiya TV that the Army has agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire which will start at 6 PM local time (16:00 GMT).

The comment comes just hours after the Sudanese Army had denied any knowledge of the proposed truce.

According to Al Jazeera, General Kabashi added that two neighboring countries, which he did not name, are trying to provide aid to the RSF.

The fighting has killed around 200 people and wounded 1,800, damaging hospitals and hampering aid.

The weeks-long power struggle exploded into deadly violence Saturday between the forces of two generals who seized power in a 2021 coup: Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
