The Sudanese ambassador to South Sudan has expressed optimism that South Sudan will resolve its crisis through dialogue.

Ambassador Dr. Mutrif Saddig said South Sudan and its neighbors stand to benefit from a political solution to the violence.

“We have witnessed tougher hiccups before but we managed to overcome them and I’m quite sure that as a young nation, South Sudan is eligible for a better future and it has the potential to be one of the best nations.” he told Eye Radio’s Dawn Show.

He said Sudan will continue to support South Sudan’s search for peace through the IGAD mediation mechanism.

“Sudan is in moral support and practical support, and we are playing an active role as a member state of IGAD to help our brothers in South Sudan overcome this hurdle and I am quite sure this hurdle is surmountable.

Ambassador Sadig said that the Sudanese government will help the movements of South Sudanese within Sudan.

Dr. Mutrif said Sudan is planning to officially open its border with South Sudan to facilitate cross border trade.
