The Traffic Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior has directed all the states in the country to put into effect the use of the unified number plates.
In March, the Inspector-General of Police issued an order directing all the Police Commissioners in the states to stop production of their own number plates.
The National Director, Samuel Ajuong, says all vehicle owners have given two weeks to re-new their number plates to SSD. Renewal costs 5,000 pounds.
He said serious measures will be taken against those who do not adhere to the order.
A new number plate costs 5000 pounds as well.
