Juba: Aid groups register 37,000 IDPs

Aid agencies have registered more than 37,000 IDPs at the UNMISS protection of civilians sites in Juba.

The registration was carried out in the two of the Protection of Civilian sites in the capital, according to the International Organization for Migration.

IOM communication officers, Jennifer Pro says humanitarian agencies were divided into teams to reach the IDPs, house to house.

“The purpose of this registration was so that humanitarian agencies and UNMISS are able to have an idea of exactly how many people were living inside the PoC site,” Ms. Pro said on Eye Radio’s Dawn Show.

She said the recent fighting which erupted in Juba in July has resulted in increased number of IDPs.

Ms Pro added that registration of the IDPs will continue next week.
