The army says 11 suspects who attack civilians at night in Juba have been arrested.

Amongst them are five soldiers. Last week, there were sporadic gunshots in different residential areas in Juba.

“The SPLA joint security forces have arrested about 11 people exactly in the last one Week; amongst them five soldiers and six civilians,” Col Philip Aguer, SPLA Spokesman, told Eye Radio.

Colonel Aguer said security forces have been deployed to conduct night patrols in the neighborhoods.

He added that the exercise is meant to crackdown on criminals who attack civilians in their homes, especially at checkpoint and Gudele suburb west of Juba.

These are suspects of night criminal attacks using guns. So this deployment is for the safety of the civilians in those places.”

Colonel Philip Aguer said security situation in the country is generally calm.
