The extension of the runway may go beyond the deadline of the 25^th of this month due to interruptions by the return of political leaders, an official has said.

They say the runway is being extended by 700 meters to provide more space for landing and takeoff.

In July, aviation officials announced the closure of the airport over weekends, starting from the 22nd of August to the 30th of April this year, to allow for renovation.
