A lawmaker in Lakes State has attributed good working relations among the state parliamentarians in the year 2023, to Governor Rin Tueny’s ‘Lakes First’ philosophy, despite their political affiliations.

Madhieu Makuac who is also the government chief whip at the state legislature attributes the collaboration to the adoption of the slogan ‘Lakes First’ by State Governor Rin Tueny.

This, he says, brought about the unity of the politicians.

“Our governor, H.E Rin Tueny came with a slogan, ‘Lakes First’ so the slogan brought all parties together whoever is going astray then is reminded of Lakes first,” Hon. Madhieu told Eye Radio.

“In the parliament, first of all, the Speaker is from OPP then the deputy is from the SPLM, but we are not seeing any tension between the parties,” he said.

“The working relationship in Lakes State parliament is very wonderful, we have no challenge in terms of political parties or those issues to do with struggling for fame and all this; that thing is not there because of that slogan Lakes first from our governor.”

Among some of the achievements of the state Legislative Assembly in the year 2023, Madhieu said the August house passed the budget for the fiscal year 2023/2024,

Other legislations include customary law and public order for the governance of state affairs.

Madhieu added that the state government is now focusing on electoral preparedness in 2024 including the passing of the state budget to support the process.
