Some South Sudanese musicians and fans have voiced outrage over a viral video that recently surfaced online showing singer DJ Cent Mr No Rest being manhandled at a concert in Uganda.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 28, where hefty event security and organizers dragged Cent down the stage during a concert of Ugandan Singer King Saha.

Music band Hardlife Avenue Stars said it is concerned about the incident, which it said is humiliating and shouldn’t have happened to an artist.

“We have seen a video of our fellow artist (DJ Cent) being dragged off stage by security apparatus at King Saha’s concert in Uganda. However, the fact that such a thing is occurring to an artist is really concerning,” the music group said.

Fellow singer Silver X also took to social media to express his discontent over the alleged lack of respect for South Sudanese artists in Uganda.

“I am so unhappy and embarrassed with the way ma boy Dj Cent was mistreated and mishandled off the stage by some Ugandan bouncers and promoters or Djs,” he posted on his official Facebook page.

He went on to sarcastically advice fellow singers to avoid going to events uninvited. “If you are not officially invited and advertised, for any concert, don’t go there and try to pay your way to the stage No matter what.”

Meanwhile, DJ Cent took to social media on Monday to thank fellow artists who voiced support following the incident.

He dismissed allegations that he had gone to the concert uninvited and attempted to jump on the stage, while declining to clarify why he ended up being dragged down the stage.

“I was paid to be in that show… me and #Saha (King Saha) were on the poster… I wonder why I see my fellow artists yapping on Facebook lying to people that I jumped on a show which I wasn’t invited,” the singer said.

“This can’t be the Global Boy of South Sudan I don’t beg for stages and I don’t go where am not invited #BIG NO. So, temptation is part of life it happens any time.”

Cent brushed off the encounter as the normal ups and downs of life. “As an artist you will face good moments and bad moments too these two things can’t miss in your journey,” he said.

He scolded certain individuals who are seeking to use the situation to pass negative sentiments against him.
