In order to foil criminals, South Sudan police opt for new uniforms.

The South Sudan police service will soon get new uniforms for easy recognition.

The Inspector General of police says a committee has been formed to identify a single uniform for the Police Services.

General Pieng Deng has recently alleged that most criminals in the country use police uniforms to commit crimes and get away with it.

He said police officers will also be issued with identification cards and single uniform to distinguish them from criminals.

““We must provide our police forces with identification cards, because without identification cards, you will only know the police unless when he or she is dressed in police uniform,” he said. “Once the new uniform is available, the old uniform will be brought back to store so that no one uses it for criminal activities.”

Inspector General Deng also said small weapons would be ideal to arm the South Sudanese force.

“We will try our level best to give them such small guns so that you don’t see them moving around with big weapons,” he said.

General Pieng Deng called on the public to be cautious of criminals wearing police uniforms on the streets.
