The National Workers Union has suspended its branch in Warrap over differences in the interpretation of labor laws.

The Secretary General of the National Labor Union, Paskwale Michael Apai says teachers in Warrap are demanding for their allowances to be paid.

He says the suspension of Warrap Workers’ Union is to also avoid teachers from going on strikes.

Apai told Eye Radio’s Dawn Program that they have sent a committee there to investigate the issue.

“What happened in Kuajok town Warrap state, was misunderstanding and lack of cooperation between South Sudan national labor union and the state labor union, their differences was in labor law. And we as National Labor union we issued an order, and with that order we have suspended the activities of the state teachers union and the national union formed a committee headed by secretary general for relations.” He said.

Michael Apai said they have urged the National government to pay allowances to the workers in Warrap to avoid any chaos.
