The newly enthroned Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Kajo-keji  County of Central Equatoria has pledged peace and reconciliation.

Bishop Lule James Kenyi has replaced late Emmanuel Murye who passed away in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 6, 2022.

The late Bishop of the Anglican Episcopal Church of South Sudan reportedly succumbed to a stroke.

Speaking upon the enthronement held at Emmanuel Cathedral-Romogi, the newly installed bishop praised his predecessor’s great work of returning people to the area.

He adds that his priority now is to strengthen peace and reconciliation in the area.

“Our first priority from now is to strengthen peace and reconciliation. During the time of the Late Bishop [Bishop Murle Mude], he had a lot on the issues of peace and reconciliation,” said Lule.

“My predecessor did a great work of returning the people of Kajo-Keji back home. Now in my capacity, I will be strengthening peace and reconciliation activities in Kajo-Keji.”

Meanwhile, his Grace, Archbishop Paul Pitya Yugusuk of Central Equatoria State Internal Province encourages the newly enthroned Bishop to be courageous like King David who defeated giant Goliath.

Yugusuk further says Kajo-Keji issues require a bold religious leader Bishop to speak for his people.

“Encourage means having strength in the face of pain. You know there’s pain but you take courage and stand on your feet amidst conflicts and pain,” said Yugusuk.

“David was a courageous man king when Goliath defied the army of the lord, he stood up courageously he said, “Let no man’s courage fail because of him [Goliath],” he said.

“Your servant will go out and fight with this Philistine]. Courageous king. Be courageous, speak in love. Don’t hide any word because your situation in Kajo-Keji requires you to speak but not to keep quiet.]

In a written statement published on his official Facebook page, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony congratulated the newly enthroned fourth Diocesan Bishop of Kajo-Keji, Rt. Rev. Lule James Kenyi

The Governor also encouraged the populace to embrace peace, and unity and voluntarily return home to rebuild their lives.
