Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni made headlines on Monday when he tweeted, blaming former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta for not standing for a third term in the August elections.

Mahoozi said retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he refers to as his big brother, for not contesting for a third term in the August 2022 polls, adding the retired president could have easily won the election.

“My only problem with my big brother is that he did not stand for a third term. We would have won easily,” he wrote on Twitter.

Former president Kenyatta could not contest for a third time, due to the presidential term limit dictated by the country’s constitution.

But Muhoozi, 48, suggested that Kenyatta, who handed over power to President William Ruto on September 13, 2022, should have changed the constitution to remain in power.

“Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us (Uganda), there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!”

In the series of bizarre tweets, Mahoozi, who serves as the commander of the land forces for Uganda People Defence Forces went on to warn that he would only need two weeks with his army to capture Nairobi.

However, the Ugandan commander said in another tweet that he has no plans to attack Kenya after his father advised him against making such an ill move.

“I would never beat up the Kenyan army because my father told me never to attempt it! So our people in Kenya should relax,” Muhoozi tweeted.

He has also posted a series of controversial tweets about Uganda’s eastern neighbor DRC, South Sudan among others, in the past.

It was not clear whether or not he was in charge of his Twitter account.

“Incidentally, President Museveni, 78, has twice benefited from a change of the constitution to rule Uganda for close to four decades. This includes the move to remove the term and age limits from the constitution,” Nation Media, one of Kenya’s most read newspapers noted.

Muhoozi has also mocked opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine, saying he will never rule Uganda.

“Kabobi should know that we will never allow him to be President of this country!” wrote Muhoozi.

The first son, who has become an influential figure in Uganda’s politics has emerged as a favorite to succeed his father if and when he chooses to retire.

Bobi Wine contested against Museveni in 2021 and emerged second.

He challenged the results at the Supreme Court but later withdrew the case and has remained a strong critic of the President, who shot his way into State House in 1986.
